PARTIALLY PENETRATING ARTESIAN WELL
- If well is not penetrating the full depth of the aquifer it is known as partially penetrating artesian well.
- The strainer length b1 is less than the aquifer thickness b2, shown in Fig. 7.12. The discharge (Qp) from such a well can be computed from the following equation:
\[Q_{p}= \frac{2\pi kb(H-h)G}{log_{e}\frac{R}{r}}\]
\[Q_{p}\]= discharge partially penetrating well
G = correction factor for partial penetration which can be evaluated by following equation given by Kozeny.
\[G= \frac{b_{1}}{b}\left [ 1+7\sqrt{\frac{r}{2b_{1}}cos\frac{\pi b_{1}}{2b}} \right ]\]
Discharge for a partially penetrating gravity well is obtained by following formula:
\[Q= \frac{\pi k(d_{1}^{2}-h_{\omega }^{2})}{log_{e\frac{}{}}\frac{R}{r}}\times G\]
\[G= \left ( 1+7\sqrt{\frac{r}{2d_{1}}cos\frac{\pi d_{1}}{2d}} \right )\]
